The Chatterbox Club: Technical Podcasting Skills

The second Chatterbox Club event hosted by Flamingo Heights Podcast Studio was a big hit, with attendees eager to learn the basics of podcasting. The event was held in the comfortable and colourful surroundings of ‘The Shrimp Bar’, one of the unique spaces within Flamingo Heights, and was hosted by Creative Director Ashleigh King and sound engineer Joel Lowson.

The purpose of the event was to share some of the technical skills and equipment needed for podcasting, as this is something many podcasters struggle with when they’re starting up. And it’s something that our clients ask the Flamingo Heights team a lot.

What Did Attendees Learn?

Joel kicked off the evening by discussing the different types of equipment needed to start a podcast. Attendees were introduced to the Blue Yeti, Rode, Lapel mics, and other essential equipment that could be used. Joel went into great detail about getting the best sound quality, explaining the importance of having a good microphone and reducing background noise.

The attendees were also given a run-through of the potential problems one might face when starting a podcast. Joel explained how issues syncing up audio and video might occur and how to overcome them. He also discussed the best editing software available to create a professional-sounding podcast.

The event was held in a relaxed, intimate setting with a roundtable format and our comfy Chesterfield sofa. The attendees enjoyed snacks and drinks while discussing their podcasting ideas and learning from the experts and each other.

Our Vision: Help You Share Your Stories

Flamingo Heights is all about creating a space for people to share their stories with the world, and The Chatterbox Club is another way of making this a reality. We’re proud to say it’s the only event we know of in the North East where attendees can network with other like-minded individuals and learn from experienced professionals in the podcasting field.

The next Chatterbox Club event is already being planned, and it's shaping up to be just as informative and enjoyable as the first two. We hope this community continues growing and offers novice and seasoned podcasters a safe space to share their ideas and experiences.

So, whether you're a seasoned podcaster or someone looking to get started, keep an eye out for the next event and come along to learn and share your passion for podcasting.
