Legendary Goalkeeper, Ben Foster Hired our Podcast Recording Studio

I’m not sure quite what’s up at Flamingo Heights Podcast Studio at the moment, but we’ve had a secret TV personality and two professional footballers record with us in the same week 😍

Today’s highlight has been professional footballer/podcaster Ben Foster and his co-host Tom Ochoa driving almost four hours from Lemington Spa to Newcastle to record two NEW podcasts at our recording studio for their Fozcast - The Ben Foster Podcast, including an episode with Geordie Goalkeeper, Nick Pope.

And the timing of Bens's visit was amazing. Less than a week ago — a month after coming out of retirement — the legendary 40‑year‑old goalkeeper Ben Foster saved a 96th‑minute penalty to secure victory for his football team, Wrexham. Ben’s face was plastered all over the news, and now he was at my studio. Wow!

Meeting ‘Podcasting Royalty’ 👑

Ben’s ‘Fozcast’ podcast is a Spotify Original, so I felt awestruck that he chose to record at Flamingo Heights. Ben’s co-host, Tom, explained that he had spotted our studio online and loved the aesthetic. High praise indeed!

As I welcomed Ben, it felt like ‘podcast royalty’ had visited my little old studio 🥰 The Fozcast team rocked up, and like true professionals, they took no time getting started. I was immediately impressed by their equipment and setup. We have a slick setup at Flamingo Heights with high-end video and audio recording equipment. But Ben’s setup was in another league 😍

And when Ben started interviewing his guest, Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope, it was clear why his podcast is so popular. Ben can make his guests feel at ease, and he is adept at turning on the charm and delivering great questions.

What did I learn from this visit?

This isn’t the first time a celebrity or sportsperson has visited my podcast studio. And I’m sure it won’t be the last. But it’s the first time I’ve been starstruck by a fellow podcast host in my studio. And I learned a lot from the visit.

I learned:

  • How incredible a top-tier podcasting setup can be.

  • Famous footballers can be fine gentlemen, too!

  • Great podcast hosts are excellent at projecting their voices.

  • Podcasters will drive hours to visit my studio space.

My Ideal Client; An Out-of-Town Podcaster Looking to Hire a Podcast Studio

I often think about what my ideal client looks like.

Ben and his team certainly fit my criteria for the ‘ideal client’. Not because he’s a famous 6-foot-4-inch football player. Or because he’s a great podcast host. Ben is my perfect client because he knew exactly what he wanted — a place away from home to record his podcast for the afternoon and somewhere special to record it.

Ben, Sebastian, Jamie, Tom, and The Cycling GK were a wonderful production crew to work with. Thanks for choosing to film in my space 🫶🏼 and I hope to see more of you.
