We Celebrated International Women’s Day: With a Podcast of Course!
Happy International Women's Day, everyone!
At Flamingo Heights Podcast Studio, we’re proud to celebrate women's achievements and recognise their unique contributions to society. Last year, we had the pleasure of hosting a special panel interview event focused on the power of being ‘fiercely authentic’ – and the role of authenticity in shaping women's careers.
And the event was very memorable to us - it wasn’t long after I opened the studio, which made it an extra special milestone for us as a team.
A look at our first International Women’s Day video podcast, hosted at Flamingo Heights Podcast Studio by founder and creative director Ashleigh King.
Today, I want to share some insights from the event hosted under the banner of my long-running NurtureYourZest podcast. We were honoured to have some amazing local women join us for the panel discussion, all with unique perspectives. The panellists included:
CiCi Reagan, director of Brilliant Estate Planning.
Kay Grayson, musician and rapper.
Mayira Thomas, motivational speaker and life coach.
Fejiro Ovah, art director and fashion editor.
Lauren McWilliams, brand photographer.
As usual, I took on my role of presenter, asking the guests about their personal experiences. And you know me, I’m always in my queen energy when presenting in my pink hat!
Throughout the discussion, the five panellists shared their experiences navigating their careers and the challenges they faced. A common thread that emerged was the importance of authenticity in their journeys. There were some great discussions, including:
Mayira Thomas - talked about following your dreams, not what your counterparts are doing, and how success is being true to yourself and brave enough to take action.
Kay Grayson - talked about being a woman in the male-dominated rap industry and being determined to be the best rapper in the room, despite often feeling uncomfortable.
As we celebrate International Women's Day, we want to honour these amazing women and the many others who have made a difference by staying true to themselves and pursuing their dreams with authenticity and courage. At Flamingo Heights podcast studio, we’re committed to supporting and empowering women - and we hope to continue hosting events that inspire and uplift women everywhere.
